David Austin Rose Gardens

I was already in bed when my dad called to ask if I wanted to visit “a rose garden” the next day. We had guests on the day and it was their last minute idea to go to the garden, and I know it’s not in our area because I’ve never heard of it before. Our little town barely has any interesting places to go to.

David Austin Rose Gardens and Plant Centre is free to visit and located in Wolverhampton. It’s almost an hour journey from our house and I’ve successfully managed to wake up early that day so I decided to tag along. The weather was a bit cloudy that morning, but decent nevertheless.

There were various gardens to walk through and every single one was designed beautifully.

We went there at the end of August so it’s understandable that some of the roses were wilting. There were still varieties of flowers and plants to look at.

Of course I didn’t forget to visit their café, The Garden Room. Though we couldn’t stay, I bought two slices of cakes to take home.

Has anyone ever tried a vegetable cake other than carrot cake? I saw the avocado and courgette cake on the display counter and my instinct told me to get a slice, so I did.

I didn’t take anymore pictures of it as it got slightly ruined in the box but the topping was really pretty with sprinkles of cornflower petals and pistachio nuts. I tried it as soon as I got home and I didn’t regret my decision on buying the slice because it actually tasted good!

The visit was very refreshing for me and I think we may give it a visit again another day, probably during spring season.

Think happy thoughts!
Love, Ain
