Dear Thirty Six Year Old Self

Dear thirty-six year old self,

Thirty-six? Goodness me, that sounds old. I hope you’re not doing too bad. I wonder what it is like in the future. Have they invented flying cars yet? Or maybe time machine? I’m sure a lot of things have changed, but I hope we’re all doing better? I wish we are. I’m guessing that the ignorant and judgemental people would still be wondering about, but I hope there had been no more corrupted politics at the very least.

I’m hoping that we would have our own family by now – maybe with a child or two? Are you working in a fashion industry? As a photographer? Or in engineering department? Or perhaps, you’ve settled to be completely something that I don’t even have in mind right now? Well, we did have so many ambitions, didn’t we?  Whatever it is, whatever we’ve become, I hope you’re living the life that we deserved. You’re my future, after all. I would hate to see you’re still struggling in 2027, and I’d do my best on my end to not let that happen!

May we be amazing always,
Your twenty-six year old you

Great idea of a post, it’s so fascinating to sit and think about what life could be like 5, 10, or even 20 years from now. I’m kind of fearful to imagine where I’m at in 10 years, because I pray it’s a good place and that I’m happy. I write a letter to myself every year on Christmas, to my future one year older self, it’s always great to read back and see how I’ve changed over the years!

Thank you! And yes, that’s exactly why I did it. It is terrifying slightly, but we can always hope and pray for the better future. That’s a good idea too! I hope you’ve seen yourself changing for the better or had improvements as you’d like to every year. Thank you for your comment! x
